I usually photograph beautiful women. That’s been my thing. It’s been a great thing, but sometimes I need a change to keep things fresh. I remember a while back looking thru 500px.com and I discovered Lee Jeffries and his work. It was so inspiring what he was doing so I thought I’d give it a whirl.. Most of these portraits are of homeless people in Albuquerque and some of the others are just people I’ve met while walking Downtown Albuquerque.

Tracey and Joe

I remember Tracey and Joe’s engagement shoot took place after a 7 hour shoot earlier that day. The day was hot and sticky and on top of it, it was a little windy! Tracey and Joe showed up.. adorable as ever. They had brought props and fun things to add to their engagement session. It was an adorable session at the Bio Park. The park was close to closing at the time so it felt like we had the entire park to ourselves. Here are the images from that day:

Fast forward to their wedding.. It was such an intimate event. They invited their family and closest friends. It was held at her mother’s beautiful home near one of Albuquerque’s Open Spaces. Here are the images!

A shoot with model Deserae..

I finally had the opportunity to work with Deserae and make up artist B-rae from the Pretty Committee. B-rae and I have been wanting to set up a shoot for a while but had no idea who to photograph until Deserae came into the picture! Santi (amazing hairstylist!) was in charge of hair. I have been working together over the past year. He did all the glorious hair in this shoot. If you’re in the ABQ area, hire them. You won’t regret it. Google The Pretty Committee for B-rae and Inspire Salon (downtown) for Santi.

We all met on a clear sunny day and decided to drive Santi’s Jeep into the New Mexico terrain and photograph. I shot these using my D600 with a Nikon 50mm 1.4. There will probably be a behind the scene video coming out soon from Santi. I’ll post that when it is made! I also brought along my Nikon FA, 50mm 1.4 with Fujufilm 200 and Kodak BW400CN. Those will be developed down the road and I’m sure I’ll update this post with it, as well!

Ashley and Brian’s Wedding

I met Ashley and Brian through Bernie, Ashley’s brother. Bernie and I have been friends for a while. Bernie had insisted that Ashley and Brian hire me for their wedding so they invited me over for dinner one night. Dion’s was on the menu (uhmm… YES!). We had our pizza and I showed them my portfolio. I remember being really really hungry so to say I was ecstatic about Dion’s, would be an understatement. It was also the dead of winter so it was absolutely freezing outside so any warm place was a blessing! I remember leaving that dinner feeling really good about the situation.

A few days later, I got the great news that I was hired for the event! Immediately, we had big plans for the engagement shoot. Ashley wanted to surprise Brian with a shoot at the Pit. Her mom, Dina, had set up the entire event for the three of us. The engagement shoot went smoothly. Brian even brought a basketball and took the opportunity to shoot some hoops while we were there.

Fast forward to their wedding..

Albuquerque was in the middle of it’s monsoon season so we were all really nervous about the wedding day. It had rained a lot the night before and drizzled lightly the morning of.. but after the wedding ceremony the sun came out hight and bright. I was so relieved! We went off to the bridal shoot and had a blast. It was a really fun party to be hanging out with. They even invited me to drink with them in celebration.. I would’ve said yes.. but I was driving AND working. 😦 Boo.. haha.

Adam and Betsy: The Los Ranchos Wedding

I spent a warm and sunny day with Adam and Betsy. Their wedding was the definition of small and intimate. They had invited their family and only their closest friends. So naturally, I was beyond flattered to have been invited 😉 The wedding and reception took place at Adam’s grandparent’s house in beautiful Los Ranchos. Now this was no ordinary home… it’s HUGE. We’re talking 3+ acres. Although I’m told their wedding was planned in a very short time, it turned out beautifully. If no one had told me, I would’ve never guessed.

Krystine & Clint

Krystine and I have been facebook friends for a while. We have the typical facebook relationship… we had never met or spoken 🙂 However, when her best friend was in the market for a wedding photographer, she sent Katie(her best friend) my way. Katie would later book her wedding with me!

–And a gorgeous wedding that was.. I’ll post a blog on that event later down the road!

During the planning period of Katie’s wedding, Krystine and I exchanged a few emails. I found out that Clint had recently proposed to her! As a thank you to Krystine for her referral, I offered her my photographic services for an engagement shoot. She accepted 🙂

We spent a month planning the engagement shoot. I met up with Krystine and Clint at our destination. I was pretty excited about the day and hyped on my Venti iced coffee from Starbucks. We got to shooting immediately. Click click click, the shoot went along without a glitch because well… they’re madly in love.. it helps, I assure you 🙂 The winds started picking up so we had eventually had to call the shoot after an hour together. Anyway, here are the final shots from our lovely morning together.
